Hungry Pandah is a small restaurant nestled in between 2 mature mango trees in Seminyak, Bali. To create a new identity within the neighbourhood, the design is about creating volume by infilling the space underneath the trees. As a result, a double height canopy is eracted to accommodate an outdoor kitchen and dining area. In order to harmonise with the surrounding trees, the facade need to replicate the dynamic movement of the trees. We came up with an idea for a facade using printed screens that are tied onto the main canopy’s structure. The printed screens are moving, swaying according to the wind just like the mango trees.
